Apartment Life Preview on GameSpy
Apartment Life is going to be released in a month, so you’d better get prepared (start downloading witchcraft objects and stuff, you know). If you’re really excited, you might like to read a preview on GameSpy. Basically, there’s nothing you don’t know or haven’t been mentioned after the Fan Event, but it’s a nice summary of what you should expect.
“What makes the building restriction so interesting is the impact on the way the player plays The Sims. As any apartment dweller can attest, every square centimeter is valuable real estate in apartment living. In our case, we tried cramming the Gavigans, a pre-made family of three (two adults and a school-age boy) into a one-bedroom apartment. We ended up having to carefully select every piece of furniture from the type of home entertainment system (IKEA’s Expidit TV storage unit) to the upright piano we put next to the boy Isaiah’s bed… which was out in what was obviously meant as a dining room. It really makes the player think carefully about their Sims’ stories, as everything in the apartment has to support their personalities.”
