Chit-Chat with Artists: Natali from Naty Designs – If Creators Can Make Great Stuff, Why Can’t Maxis?
When Naty wrote me she wanted to make an interview, I thought – what is this site? I took a deep look at her creations and I knew it would be just perfect to make her interviewed. She’s mainly interested in housing and moden design which I really like and many Simmers do as well. Spring4Sims: Hello, Naty! Can we know you a little bit better? Could you tell us how old are you, where do you live and what do you do for living?
Naty: I am 23 years old, married, from Brazil, I have a small bussines and I love cats and movies.
Spring4Sims: When did you first started to play the game?
Naty: I knew the game when I was in my cousin´s house, it was The Sims 1, but I only started playing in 2006, I have been playing for 2 years and I am publishing my creations for a year.
Spring4Sims: Why have you decided to run your own site for the Sims?
Naty: I would like to share my creations and the objects that I love with other Simmers.
Spring4Sims: Is there something that you find hard on running a Sim-site?
Naty: The questions about the game, I try my best to answer all of them.
Spring4Sims: Wouldn’t it be easier to share your creations on the Exchange?
Naty: No, I prefer to have an exclusive place, even if takes more time to become noticed, and most of the sites have a policy about the size of the lots, my houses are too big to be shared like that. But I am thinking about to put my creations in TRS, I have not decided about yet.
Spring4Sims: When you first found out about the custom content, what were you thinking?
Naty: My first Houses were Maxis only. When I started to download custom things, I got crazy about all great things, and I had to buy a new computer.
Spring4Sims: Can you tell us why have you decided to make houses? Do you just like the modern design or is it just something that fulfills your creativity? Or maybe it was the easiest way to start?
Naty: I love modern houses, architecture, furnishing. One of my first creation was not modern, in fact modern design is very difficult to be done, I have one house that I took 2 months to finish, with no furniture, I take more time to furnishing than build. Each house has a special meaning for me, it may seems strange but I love small houses, my favorite one is the Kwan Home, until I thought about to build it for real.
Spring4Sims: It’s pretty obvious that you like to build modern houses. Have you ever thought of swiching to some other style?
Naty: I built others styles, but I will never leave my passion for modernity.
Spring4Sims: Which of the parts on building do you find the most important?
Naty: There is not the most important part. It’s a set, togheter they compose a Beautiful House. Each house I build I learn something new, I get better.
Spring4Sims: You site has already had more than 400,000 visitors. How does it feel?
Naty: I feel great, my site is special for me, it shows that Simmers like my work. This make me so happy, I don’t create for me, but for them, I really want to say Thanks to all visitors.
Spring4Sims: How do you think Maxis could improve tools for building? What do you miss in the game? What should be different?
Naty: The furniture is terrible, they could make furniture like the great custom content creators, the same for the houses if we can why do they not?
Spring4Sims: Have you ever thought of creating something else than houses? There are lots of possibilies you could choose from…
Naty: I tried but as don’t have the programs and tutorials in my language, it so hard to learn, that I gave up and decided to do just building and furnishing.
Spring4Sims: Do you even have time for playing the game? Many creators don’t, the way they play the game is actually that they create…
Naty: I play sometimes, but 95 % of the time I create, 5 % I play. I like to play in the house that I have just built, to feel how others will felt inside one of my houses.
Spring4Sims: Do you have any special characters in your game that you’ve been playing with for a long time? How many generations have you been able to make the most?
Naty: I never spend much time with a Sim, I think I just make 3 generations.
Spring4Sims: How do you like The Sims 3 so far? What do you think is really cool about it, what do you think that could be made better?
Naty: I think it is going to be a great game, there are so many new things. Honestly, I just can give you my opinion after I play it.
Spring4Sims: Are you going to get it and start creating for the new game or will you stick to The Sims 2? Or maybe for both?
Naty: I will try my best to build for both, because I think that some people will keep playing both the games. It’s almost impossible leave behind our TS2 after all of this time.
Spring4Sims: Do you play some other games apart from The Sims?
Naty: No, I do others things, like reading, walking, sometimes I play the piano, I also have to care about my family, so after all just have space left for one game.
Spring4Sims: Now think of what would you be as a Sim – your aspiration, skills or maybe some other features.
Naty: My aspirations is Family, I love to have my Family around, about the skills – my favorite: Creativity, but in the game I am the best cook ever, because in the real life I am a really bad cook. Also, as I don´t have many animals, only one cat, in the game I like to have 3 dogs, 4 cats, birds and 2 horses(if they were possible to have).
Spring4Sims: What have been the best experience you’ve had with the community so far?
Naty: I made some great friends, not in real life because, there are many people from different countries and cities, but if I had the opportunity I would like to know some of them, and of course my visitors. I am so happy that the community likes my creations.

I am from Brazil too. It is great to know that someone here create something! I agree with her, there are no tutorials for our language, I wish I could help more about that.

Thanks for answer my request for the interview, It will help my site get more visits, and people will know more about my work. I loved to share my thoughts with others,and talk about my passion, and hobbies, Thanks for your help not just for my Site but all the Sims sites, with your daily hints. Keep doing the good job.

I agree with Naty’s comment about Maxis 100%. If creators can make such great content, why can’t they? Their stuff in comparrison to the majority of custom content available to the the community is pants!!! Your work is lovely Naty.
