Explanation about Making Finds, Direct Linking, Posting Pictures and More
I’ve got a comment in one of the recent posts. Just to make it sure to everyone, I’m going to make turn it into a more public announcement so everyone can see why. I hope Kylie won’t get offended, but I thought this might save me a lot of explaining in the future.
The original comment is highlited in blue.
1. I was in love with the cc you provided in your Sims 2 site, it was awesome! But, recently I got the Sims 3 and also discovered that now you are doing Sims 3 items as well, and well, I’m find it disappointing.First of all, you don’t show the pictures, we have to click on the links to find out what you’re even talking about, …
Spring4Sims was always meant to be a TS2 site. I planned to expand S4S and start a TS3 finds site, but unfortunatelly, I can’t find any spare time in my life to start the project.
I thought just clicking the links to TS3 downloads I find awesome isn’t nearly as hard as taking time to put all the links together and describe them. I won’t add pictures to TS3 finds because it would only confuse a lot of visitors. People can’t stop asking ‘is this fot TS2 or TS3?’. Frankly, I’m so tired of this question.
So, S4S stays a TS2 finds site. TS3 finds will be compiled to lists of finds when I feel like to doing them. If you don’t feel like taking your time to click the links and see the content, you don’t have to do so.
Also, the system which I publish articles/finds with doesn’t allow me to create two categories with the same name (e.g. I can’t have two categories for ‘Hair for Females’–one for The Sims 2 and one for The Sims 3). So yeah, you get the point.
2. … and a lot of the time, the links aren’t even to the right places.
I can link directly only to sites that allow that. For example, sites like CC4Sims.com have disabled direct linking, so I can’t link directly to categories with clothes or recolors.
3. Either that, or the site you send us to is in a completely different language!
I take no resposibility for what language are other sites with custom content. You can always use Google Translator if you really mind. But I never link to sites in which you can’t relatively easily find a Download link. I think it’s mostly easy to see what the CC is from the pictures.
4. Also, you aren’t showing NEARLY as much designer stuff, what happened to the Gucci bags, Ray-Ban sunglasses & Victoria’s secret clothing? I miss it terribly.
That’s because there is no more designer stuff. If creators made some, I would post it. I love fashion myself and as long as the downloads are high-quality, I’m posting them. But as long as there’s nothing new, I’m not posting anything. I think that’s pretty logical.
5. Also, when I’m browsing through clothes and other items, I can never tell if they are for Sims 2 or Sims 3. It’s very confusing.
Go back to point no. 1. See? That’s why I don’t post The Sims 3 finds with pictures. Everything with pictures is for The Sims 2. This should clear out most of the trouble, but as I can see, for some people, it still doesn’t.
6. I hope you can do something about these problems in the future, and hope that I’m not being a nuisance for ranting on about this. I just miss the spring4sims I used to know!
Honestly, I miss the ‘good old’ S4S, too. But since there are less new downloads, less creators, and less time in my personal life, I can’t seem to help this.
Thanks for reading.

Personally, I like the fact that you only give the links & not the pictures so that I don’t have to be confused as to which is which.

Hev, I’m glad it works fine for you this way, that’s why I do it like that.

I think that there are plenty of TS3 websites out there. I’m sure there is a website just like S4S specifically for TS3. Like you said, this site was created for TS2…You’re going above and beyond to even search for and post for TS3. People need to be more appreciative for the hard work and dedication you put into this site

Hello Hannah. I read all here and often visit your site for finds.
I also do have a blog at WordPress and you said you can’t create some categories or do you mean subcategories ?
Anyway I know that on WordPress you could create one more blog with the same account – for example if some day you feel like it for The Sims 3.
In regard to downloads ccategories at other sites for the direct link to for example Undies just right click on the tab title, see properties for the URL to grab. From Heaven To Hell (German site) categories links are also disabled but to direct people there to a specific download I use this method from right clicking.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

I always thought it was obvious which posts had which kind of content because you tag them with TS3 or TS2.

Hey Hannah!
I just wanted to say that I love your site and that so far it is the only one that I have encountered that has only good quality downloads. I think you do a great job. Thanks so much for all that you have done. I think your blog puts all other sims cc sites to shame… =D
Anyways….
thanks.

I’m not offended at all, thank-you so much for taking the time to explain!

You handled that far better than I. I am not confused by your site in the slightest. I think it’s VERY easy to navigate and find S2 and S3 stuff. God forbid you link to sites in another language *gasps* (LOL)!!!

Wow! I never even noticed that you never really show pictures of finds of TS3 until now.
But I’m glad you did address this. In my opinion, I think you are doing enough with linking to the site. You have taken time out of your day to link us to your favorite TS3 (and TS2) sites, with a little description of that, and I’m very grateful! It’d be cool if you could expand, but right now, I think that what you are doing is an excellent job. Thanks.
(And I had to laugh about the issue of linking to a site in another language. Not every simmer speaks English and some of those sites are easy to navigate, once you mess around with the buttons. Thanks for linking to those, too!)

Thanks for your comments! I’m glad it’s pretty clear to everyone now. Thanks for your appreciation and wishes!

What would happen if i had a vegetarian in Sims 3 and his/her favorite food was a hotdog??
By Molly on 12.24.09 18:28
ummm….sorry that was really random… =D
By Molly on 12.24.09 18:28
Molly, I believe that vegetarians only have favorite foods that don’t contain any meat.

I guess it’s just me but I don’t understand the whole confusion b/w TS2 and TS3. I think the difference is pretty obvious just from how they look. Be it the actual sims or things like couches, there is a very different look to them. But like I said, I guess it’s just me and others get confused. Anyways I love your site !! Keep up the great work
