Babies in TS3 Are Not ‘Random’ Anymore UPDT
In case you were wondering, I’ve noticed one thing.
In The Sims 2, when your female Sim got pregnant, it wasn’t sure for 100% percent what sex will the baby have. When the birth came, the game would choose the sex of the baby right that moment. So that means you could play with your Sim and when the birth came, you could have either a babygirl or a babyboy–and if you didn’t like the sex of the baby, you could just load your saved game, wait till the birth came again and see whether it’s going to be a girl or a boy. And try it like this until you weren’t confident with the sex of the baby.
In The Sims 3, things have changed: when your female Sim gets pregnant, the sex of the baby is chosen right that moment. When you get her into the hospital (or give the birth at home), the sex of the baby will always be the same. So if you save your game while your Sim is already pregnant, the sex of the baby will remain.
I noticed this because I’m always very particual about my babygirls and babyboys in the game. I’m trying to have Morgana Wolff a babyboy, but no luck so far. She’s already had like four babygirls but still no babyboy. And she can’t have that many kids! Lol. So I deleted them. Poor babies, I know. It’s a genocide.
But she also wants a babyboy really bad, so what else am I supposed to do rather than try?
Oh and now let’s try it again! *crosses her fingers*
UPDATED: So, first of all thanks for your suggestions! I googled the pregnancy and fruits and found out what you were saying: if Sims eat apples, they will have boys, if they eat watermeloon, they will have girls.
But I was still partly right: the sex of the baby is chosen right after your femlales get pregnant. But then it depends on what kind of fruit your females eat. Morgana didn’t eat at all (because I cheat and modify her motives), so she was just ‘unlucky’ to have all those girls. But from now on, she’s going to eat apples through her pregnacy.
Oh and one more thing: if your game is updated with patch 1.3 the affect of fruits will no longer have affect in meals (like pancakes). That means your Sims will have to eat raw fruits to have either a babygirl or a babyboy. Hope that helps.

Look up stuff for TS3 about the fruits, I read some stuff about fruits and eating them during that sims pregnancy can affect the chances of the gender of the baby(ies).

Yes! I found it, watermelon increases the chance of female babies in TS3 and apples increase the chance of a boy. Your welcome and hope this helps.

I read somewhere that in TS3 the baby’s sex has something to do with the fruits the mother eats during her pregnancy. It might be just a pile of rubbish, but I suppose you could look into that.

OMG! I really didn’t know that, thank you guys! Now she’s going to eat tons of apples and I’ll see how it works.
I’m not really sure what kind of fruits has she been eating, but I’m going to be extra picky about that from now on. Thanks a lot again!

they took whole lot of stuff from ts3 and that why some people turning back to ts2 because more stuff too.To me this just opinion I wish they never made ts3 because they could’ve just upgrade ts2 need some area like camera moving around, instead waiting to load to get to other place, they could’ve gave us option of waiting load to other place or your sim can walk to different places. It sound to me that they rush the game out to the public and didn’t about little details like they have in ts2 game to my opinion. The sims 3: ambition game come out in summer 2010, yeah it look good when see the trailer but is it what we expect it would or not. sorry for the long opinion had to get it off my chest. oh yeah would have nice if something that r happen in ts3 game would give option to ts2 game too. Sorry again

Hi,
Just wanted to say I really enjoy your sim-stories. It makes it so engaging in regards to game-play issues. Btway, I just managed to have the desired baby boy for my simmie by feeding her tons of apples, so wishing your Morgana simmie luck for this. And yes, I agree with HannahSpring, I do wish sometimes that TS2 was extended with the TS3 stuffs. But keeping fingers crossed for Ambitions, maybe it will add some more spice into our TS3 game. Because although I liked the new career feature, I felt the rabbit holes made it all a bit dull. Anyhow, Keep up the good work with your site, my hubs and I love dropping by to see whats new in simland

I don’t know if this help but you can easily choose the sex of the baby. I tested and retested (poor sims that had seven or eight babies at least in order to find how it really works !)and it works with sims 2 and 3 so it’s not related to a hack !
When I want a baby boy, I tell them to relax and tell to the woman to try for a baby (without any kiss, relax then try for a baby because the kiss seems to infere but I didn’t find how) and everytime, she has a baby boy. For the baby girl, I do the same except that it’s the man who try to have a baby so I’m sure to have a baby girl. Now I’m happy to have the same numbers of girls and boys because I didn’t like to have 5 boys for example and one baby girl !
I know that reload the game can works also but I don’t use this methode since the one above works fine in my game. I hope this works also for you !
Trust me I reloaded the game once, from the first time I played the sims 2 to change the sex, and it was because I wanted my simmies to have twins girl but she had one girl and one boys ! Because for twins it works for one of them the second one is really randomly selected.
So remember just relax then try for a baby:
* if this is the woman who asks= a baby boy
* if this is the man who asks= a baby girl
It’s works so fine in my game that in order to have surprises about the sex of the baby, I let them doing what they want with the ACR! Lol

*blinks* The comment about removing fruit from pancakes etc seems odd to me, as that is the ONLY way I can effect the sex of my children and I’m fully patched. Mainlining the raw fruits does nothing…. O_O;;

Vintagenettles: Well, that’s what I read… cooked meals will not effect the pregnancy. But I haven’t tried it yet, so I really don’t know.
Briesie: Thanks a lot for your comment, I’m really glad someone likes to read posts like this!

how do u delete sims? cos u said u deleted the baby girls. haha.
By Evangeline on 04.15.10 15:17
Press CTRL+SHIFT+c and then type enabletestingcheats true. Then choose the active Sim you want to delete, press SHIFT and click him again. There will be an option Object… Delete. Click that and your Sim will disappear from the game entirely!
