The Sims 1: 10 Years Later, Still on Time
Okay, here it is! This was the special post I mentioned earlier this week, although I remember some of you wanted to hear how I like High-End Loft Stuff, I might disappoint you–the stuff pack has just been shipped from the USA and should arrive in two weeks. Meanwhile, let’s start from square one.
A box with The Sims 1, the original game, huh? Oh yes! Finally!
Now to briefly update you on why I didn’t have it. Well, 10 years back when I was 10 years old and didn’t even have any pocket money, my parent’s wouldn’t really buy me any games. At that time they were terribly expensive in my country. (About three times the price in the USA while the average wedge in my country was about 8 times lesser in the USA. Make the counting–it was darn expensive.) And with piracy as popular as it could be, I could barely dream about the original copy. Ten years later, it’s here. I think I really deserve every inch of this box.
I’ve decided to re-collect all The Sims 1 games this year. That means there are still 8 expansion packs left but it shouldn’t be that hard since the games can be bought much cheaper these days. Nonetheless, I still can’t just go and spend 120 bucks on games. Lol, I wish I could!
Then there will be the hardest part: The Sims 2, all expansion packs and stuff packs. Luckily, stuff packs can be bought really cheaply. But still it’s 17 games left. Ugh. (Although I’m expecting Bon Voyage to arrive soon. I’ll make another post when I get it, yay.)
Anyways, I’m so happy I bought The Sims 1! I have so many nice memories when I think about I how played the game. As simple as the game was, I could play it all days long. Just thinking about it gives me goose bumps.
Since I do make some money right now, I buy all The Sims 3 games pretty much as soon as they’re released because I don’t want to miss anything. Also, it’s much easier to buy one game once a three months than buy many of them all at once. I can’t wait for Ambitions right now and High-End Loft Stuff as well. It’s just so much fun to see how the games periodically brighten my days.

Gosh, TS1 brings back so many memories. TS2 and TS3 are so much advanced, but isn’t it crazy that you could spend all night playing and still be hooked?

I still got my Sims 1 (deluxe), & the expansion pack Superstar. But they’re not installed :’)
It’s so funny that I’m not the only one who spend nights playing it.

O the nostalgia! I remember how restricting The Sims 1 was…yet I still loved every bit of it. The Sims Vacation was my all time fave, I loved going to the beach lots
TS1 owns.

But sims3 disgusted me… I think it’s the end of my passion for this game because of sims3, a disappointment.

I actually have Sims 1 installed on my laptop; I still play it occasionally. My brother got me hooked but he doesn’t play anymore. HE was really mean to his Sims anyway, locking them in empty rooms and watching them die…
I wish I had Sims 3 but I’ve got to get a better system; my current system is 8 years old and… yeah, I really need a new one soon. And honestly, I’m still collecting all the Sims 2 games!

Thanks for your comments! I plan to install the game after my exams, although I think I won’t play it much. As much as I love, it’s way too simple now and there’s no real way back.

The very first Sims game I ever got was the Sims: Complete Collection. It makes me feel old (which I totally am not). I also am still trying to collect all the Sims 2 games, which is getting difficult as you can’t find many of the older stuff packs except on amazon. This really bugs me, as I am not ready to move on to the Sims 3 and leave behind the Sims 2. But hopefully I can get them all (about 4 more to go!) But when I see that Sims 1 box sitting on my shelf collecting dust, it deffinately brings back memories.
