Organizing My Mods Folder: Sort by Artists or Type of Custom Content?

I’m having a huge dilemma right now. I know many people organize their Downloads/Mods folder by the type of custom content. Such as The Body Shop, Buy Mode, Build Mode, Hacks, etc. I’ve recently wrote a post where I explained I prefer sorting by artists. BUT right now I’m rethinking this. I only have 11 folders with 11 different artists, and yet I think that’s too many (and I have a folder for ‘miscellaneous’ artists already, too). Damn it! I can’t even make a real decision about folders these days… didn’t I say my brain was melting? Yeah, anyways, please, let me know how you sort your folders and what you think is better! I’ll appreciate that so much!

Happy 4th of July!

Happy 4th of July, guys! No, I’m not celebrating with you as I’m not American, but reading so many American-based blogs about various things makes me excited for you. It seems like so many preparations go for this day. If you’re celebrating, leave me a comment how, I’m always very curious about foreign customs. :)

Examiner.com: The Sims Is Not Child’s Play

I found this article via InfiniteSims about the Sims community and its players. It’s fun to read about ourselves in a more detached way, although I think you know most of the story already. The article was interesting to read anyway, I hope you’ll enjoy it, too.

“In contrast with other game communities, the Sims community tends to require its members to act ‘nice’… in sharp contrast to the aggressiveness and competitiveness commonly found on message boards for other games. Which is not to say that Simmers in aggregate are actually, GENUINELY ‘nicer’… there’s as much backbiting and territoriality and infighting and drama as you find anywhere online… but amidst all of that, you see plenty of evidence of people orienting to a ‘niceness norm’.”

Let Me Know If Your Site Has Updated

This message is mostly to creators: if you have updated with new downloads and I haven’t noticed that, please, let me know. I’m not checking site updates that much these days and those sites that don’t have any RSS feeds are getting really neglected by me. I’m really sorry for that, but the university has stared again and I have so much work right now (I mean real work).

In case you found out that I don’t do as much as updates for your site as you might wish for, let me know about them! I don’t check my mailbox very often, so it’s best if you let me know in the comments, just leave one in any article you can find. It’s the best and the quickest way for me to get it noticed.

Thanks a ton!

Off-Topic: Mave Leather?

This is a totally off-topic post, so it doesn’t have anything to do with The Sims. I need to ask you guys (since I’m not a native English speaker) what mave leather is. I’m particularly curious about the word mave, because I can’t find anything that would explain what kind of leather it is.

I bought a jacket, I even found it on Amazon.de, it should be made of genuine leather, because the label on it says it’s a pig leather and there were a few other labels saying it’s a leather jacket (no faux leather or anything like that). And it also wasn’t exactly cheap so it would better be one, haha.

But then I came home and my mum and now also my brother have started telling me that it’s not a genuine leather. It really freaked me out, because I don’t want a faux leather jacket (and definitely not for that money). It doesn’t really smell like leather, that’s right. But all those labels are saying it is genuine leather, it’s also a good brand (ONLY) and even Amazon claims it’s a schweinsleder (pig leather).

No idea what mave leather is, though. So I’m slightly confused. (Especially when somebody keeps telling you that you bought a fauxleather jacket and you wanted real leather jacket, gosh). Any ideas? Thanks a lot!

Please, Bear with Me

Hey guys, sorry I’m neglecting S4S so much these days, but I have exams this week and I’m feeling a little harsh about it all. I’ll see if I find any time to make new posts this week, but I’ll sure be back soon anyway. :)

Take care!

Merry Christmas!

I’d like to wish you all Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! I hope you’ll enjoy this holiday season playing the game and downloading new goodies, but also have great time with your family and friends!

Explanation about Making Finds, Direct Linking, Posting Pictures and More

I’ve got a comment in one of the recent posts. Just to make it sure to everyone, I’m going to make turn it into a more public announcement so everyone can see why. I hope Kylie won’t get offended, but I thought this might save me a lot of explaining in the future.

The original comment is highlited in blue.

1. I was in love with the cc you provided in your Sims 2 site, it was awesome! But, recently I got the Sims 3 and also discovered that now you are doing Sims 3 items as well, and well, I’m find it disappointing.First of all, you don’t show the pictures, we have to click on the links to find out what you’re even talking about, …

Spring4Sims was always meant to be a TS2 site. I planned to expand S4S and start a TS3 finds site, but unfortunatelly, I can’t find any spare time in my life to start the project.

I thought just clicking the links to TS3 downloads I find awesome isn’t nearly as hard as taking time to put all the links together and describe them. I won’t add pictures to TS3 finds because it would only confuse a lot of visitors. People can’t stop asking ‘is this fot TS2 or TS3?’. Frankly, I’m so tired of this question.

So, S4S stays a TS2 finds site. TS3 finds will be compiled to lists of finds when I feel like to doing them. If you don’t feel like taking your time to click the links and see the content, you don’t have to do so.

Also, the system which I publish articles/finds with doesn’t allow me to create two categories with the same name (e.g. I can’t have two categories for ‘Hair for Females’–one for The Sims 2 and one for The Sims 3). So yeah, you get the point.

2. … and a lot of the time, the links aren’t even to the right places.

I can link directly only to sites that allow that. For example, sites like CC4Sims.com have disabled direct linking, so I can’t link directly to categories with clothes or recolors.

3. Either that, or the site you send us to is in a completely different language!

I take no resposibility for what language are other sites with custom content. You can always use Google Translator if you really mind. But I never link to sites in which you can’t relatively easily find a Download link. I think it’s mostly easy to see what the CC is from the pictures.

4. Also, you aren’t showing NEARLY as much designer stuff, what happened to the Gucci bags, Ray-Ban sunglasses & Victoria’s secret clothing? I miss it terribly.

That’s because there is no more designer stuff. If creators made some, I would post it. I love fashion myself and as long as the downloads are high-quality, I’m posting them. But as long as there’s nothing new, I’m not posting anything. I think that’s pretty logical.

5. Also, when I’m browsing through clothes and other items, I can never tell if they are for Sims 2 or Sims 3. It’s very confusing.

Go back to point no. 1. See? That’s why I don’t post The Sims 3 finds with pictures. Everything with pictures is for The Sims 2. This should clear out most of the trouble, but as I can see, for some people, it still doesn’t.

6. I hope you can do something about these problems in the future, and hope that I’m not being a nuisance for ranting on about this. I just miss the spring4sims I used to know!

Honestly, I miss the ‘good old’ S4S, too. But since there are less new downloads, less creators, and less time in my personal life, I can’t seem to help this.

Thanks for reading.

Some People Don’t Like the Sims Fans

Found this in the comments today:

Sims is a game for people who don’t have a life.this game is so boring i don’t know why my brother even bought it for me….bye sims freaks see ya in hell!!!

Yeah, I delete comments like this. They’re pretty rare, though, I think this is the second one in the past year and a half, but still–why bother commenting when you have something like that on your mind?

P.S.: It might be hot in the hell, but at least there’s good company. ;)

I Have a Crush on You, Teen Boy

I had this little girl in my game as an in-game Sim. While her parents were away, they called the nanny and this young guy showed up. As you can see, the girl is a typical I-don’t-care how I look kid. And I totally love that, because a lot of girls are like that at this age. The horror of I-never-look-too-good begins soon after that. Trust me, I know, haha.

I was just thinking–wouldn’t it be cute if kids could fall in love? I wouldn’t care if they could fall in love with other kids or even teens. I can imagine this young lady having a crush on her manny, it would be so cute!

What do you think? Isn’t there a hack for this? I’d love to try it out!
