I haven’t really been playing The Sims 3 for the last couple of weeks, perhaps because I was all excited about the new games I’ve just got: Tropico 3 and Tropico 3 Absolute Power (an expansion pack). The game is really great and so much fun, if you like strategies, definitely go check it out. I really like the idea of being a dictator of a banana island, making good and bad or even selfish decisions for my small island. The game makes fun of USA and USSR in the Cold War and I have to say I enjoy it quite a lot since I come from a post-communistic country. Enough said, just make sure you take a look if you don’t know the game at all!

But don’t think I’ve been neglecting my game that much! I’ve been downloading new stuff, organizing my Mods folder and pretty much deleting stuff I had but wasn’t really happy with in the game. It’s quite time-consuming I have to say. Apart from that, I finally received the The Sims 3 Amitions Prima Game Guide and it’s so helpful! I’m slowly digging through it and figuring some stuff before playing as I’ve found out sometimes it works for me much better this way. I don’t have all the time I used to have to try everything at once, so this way I choose the things I want to try the first and then pay attention to other stuff.

Also, I’ve been thinking about doing a small challege for you all. Do you have your room decorated with any Sims-themed objects? Or do you have your collection of the games nicely displayed on your shelves to show them proudly off? I thought it might be fun to see each other’s room with some odds and ends from The Sims. I have recently put a big poster of Sunset Valley on my wall and there’s a Plumbob USB hanging right down from my lamp… and of course, the games are lying around my desk with the guides. So would you be interested in showing your pictures? I though I could post them here at Spring4Sims and turn them into a show case. I just need to know if anyone would be willing to participate.

Oh yes, I finally have Ambitions, the Commemorative Edition is really fancy so I’ll sure write about it soon. I only played the game for 15 minutes, gave a small makeover to one of the local stylists at Twinbrook and that was it. Apart from the fact that I know I can’t play the game right now I feel the game has added pretty lot of new stuff and it makes me feel lost. I really need the Prima Game Guide.

Lately I’ve noticed I have less and less time to sink deep into details before release of new Sims games. I really have to do something with it, it’s making me feel uncomfortable since I love the game so much… Maybe some better time management? GTD might work, or so I’ve heard (any recommendations?).

I also couldn’t thank you sooner because there’s been a slight problem with WordPress. I couldn’t edit some of the older posts, everything was working really wonky and the worst thing is that some finds/posts that I pre-scheduled were deleted. That’s why there’s been fewer downloads these day. Everything should be working fine now, though.

Another thing I wanted to let you all know about is that Spring4Sims is now 2 years old! Two years is quite a lot if you consider posting new things (almost) every day. It’s so great to have such large audience that now includes 150+ subscribers via RSS feeds and more than three thousand visitors every day or up to four thousand on weekends. Thanks to everyone who supports my site and visits it. It makes me very happy! *makes the Smustle dance*

Another thing is that I’m having problems to find more TS2 stuff. Are there any new TS2 finds I’m missing, something shiny and new? Let me know in the comments. I try to do the finds fifty-fifty, but sometime’s it’s just not possible. Sorry for those who are looking forwards to downloading something for TS2.

The bad news is that I have too much work right now. (It’s not like I want you to feel sorry for me, definitely not.) But the worst thing of all? When you know you can’t play The Sims just because it’s the Saturday morning, because you have to write a seminar paper. That’s definitely not a good thing for Saturday morning, right?

My question is: What do you do on Suturday mornings? Do you play The Sims? Or do you do something different?

A lot of people, including me, started playing the new game more than the “older” one, but there are also people who play both at the same time. And because I also used my own site as a source for downloads that I personally prefer, I’ve decided it would be okay to start making finds also for TS3 files.

In fact, I wanted to do that a long time ago. But I couldn’t really find a good way to categorize the new finds. Then I thought I might make a new site only for TS3 find. But honestly, I have enough managing one site, I don’t need another one to take care of and pay more money for hosting.

However, I finally figured out the categories with my boyfriend. Here’s the best part: we have a new super-shiny tag that will show you which files are for TS2 and which are for TS3. You can see both right under the title of article (I put both in this article just for ilustration, there’s nothing to download here). What do you think? Do you like it? Let me know. BTW if you’re subscribed to Spring4Sims feeds you will as well see a small description whether the downloads are for TS2 or TS3.

There are also some small changes in the layout, finally no Christmas theme… it’s been here for a year, so it’s been about the time to change it, haha. Some more might happen to come soon, I hope.

The good news is that my game arrived. The bad news is that I have two more days of exams, so I’ve decided just to stare at it for next two days, so I wouldn’t feel guilty about not studying. But you can bet I can’t wait to put in my DVD-drive! I think most people were pretty positive about World Adventures and I think I’ll like it, too.

This is not an apology because I didn’t do the updates, I just felt like spreading a word or two about my bad sleeping habits. Or rather a very full working schedule, which makes me sleep 5-6 hours a day at max. This week was rather terrible at this point and I hope to get some proper sleep today. Also, I hope this not to happen again, not because it would make me feel guilty (we all need to get some rest), but because of that very strange feeling I was having all day today.

It’s really not good when you feel like you’re losing your mind, lol.

Well, I knew it wouldn’t last too long anyway, but it was much quicker than I expected. See? Bad things go away quickly. And you don’t even need to push things. Isn’t it funny how some things in the world work out?

Christian Dior, who was kind of an oposite of Coco Chanel wasn’t really happy about copying at all. He hated when his design was copied and did everything he could to get rid of the nasty “thieves”.

When I received a mail from Pam from SimTopi that www.sims3customcontent.co.cc copies content of my site, I was really annoyed. I’ve already known about sites that copy my content, my articles, steal my bandwidth. (Usually fashion-related, though.) And talking about bandwidth, it’s either me or you who pays for it. And we all know it’s not really cheap and I also think that you donate because you like my site. What other reason would you do that for?

So, as I said, I was really annoyed when I saw that my articles and pictures were copy-pasted somewhere else. But when I calmed down a little, I’ve decided to stop being Christian Dior and become Coco Chanel (at least at this part — I think I’ll like Dior’s clothes always better).

The person who runs the site, Edward, must really love Spring4Sims. Just think about it — he takes his time to visit it, copy the content and use it himself. Today I’ve noticed that just when my posts were published, they appeared on the site in a moment or two. That is a good proof he loves my site. And I’m not being ironinc.

So from now on, I don’t care. Edward, do steal these pictures, do steal my bandwith, I don’t care. I have enough of bandwith, because I needed to upgrate it anyway, and do steal my words, because you probably can’t write any better words than I can. And I really don’t have to bother because even Google blacklists sites that copy content.

Did you know that even Edward has “Hannah’s Picks” on his site? Thank you, I really appreciate this! I didn’t know that some people liked me so much. Real fan, isn’t he? And also, if the site is called www.sims3customcontent.co.cc, why is there content for The Sims 2 as well? Hmm, somebody should at least take a look at the games to see the difference.

My first year and semester at university has started this Monday and it’s taking a lot of my time right now. Well, the worst is behind me: first day was a bit stressful, but it’s much better now. I study History of Arts, or maybe I should say Kunst Geschichte? We seem to have a little trouble with books and all we have are in German. Oh well, how much fun this is going to be? I’m really happy I actually learnt some German at high school now, although it’s barely as good as my English. (Have I just said that my English is good? That was a joke, obviously. ) But still, it’s a double-trouble, isn’t it?

Let’s get to the point now–I’m just letting you know that I pre-schedule all my posts these days, so some things here might not be minty-fresh, but still fresh enough to grab some of your attention. It saves me a lot of time to make finds once in four days and it’s also a bit more comfortable to me. I still don’t have any portable PC so I can’t do any finds while I’m at university (I commute every day).

That’s pretty much everything I wanted to say. I’m hoping to get some rest tomorrow and reply those emails that are still unreplied.

And the fact is that I don’t even have so much of it. I will need to get something new, though. Hairs from CoolSims, Leesester’s add-on windows and doors, Femme Fatale’s clothes, stuff from Fansee and Fakepeeps, Adele… and so much more!

Oh, I’m so greatful that I’ve made Hannah’s Picks! After all, most of the things listed there is something I would download for my game.

It’s not like I felt way too angry, but I guess sometimes you need to vent a little. I think I’ll be fine for a long time now ignornig every hypocritical word that somebody says to me.

However, don’t expect me to deal with you if you’re acting quite rudely. What ‘rudely’ in my opinion means? Tons of exclamation marks, USING CAPITAL LETTERS IN SIZE OF 40 PIXELS and threatening me like I did something very bad.

Please, note that I’m also just a regular person who makes mistakes. I often make finds when I feel tired, usually after 11 PM. Yes, I’m really bad at names and I do make a lot of typos. I’m really aware of that. But if you feel like telling me, you can do it nicely. I never post anything on my site that could do harm to anyone and I always try to praise the hard work of creators. It’s sad to see that sometimes you get unkind emails in exchange.

If you feel like sending me rude mails, do so. But don’t expect them to reply. If you play it nice, I will play it nice. So please, be nice.

It’s really unbelievable to know that 101 people actually have this blog in their RSS readers. And another 4,000 visit this site daily. I’m going kudos, haha.

My huge thankyou goes to all of you returning day by day. It really makes me happy. 100 was pretty much my goal, but who knows how far we’ll get, right?

I plan to write the review from a point of a retired The Sims 2 player and make a summary of what’s better, what’s worse, what’s missing etc. I hope players who haven’t decided whether to switch or not will find it useful.

So, I’m trying to keep it up to to 6 posts right now, which has been working fine for over one or two weeks now. I think posting more regular is better than posting with hiccups. Hope you’re cool with that, too.

I spent 70 dollars to pay for my game. It was shipped from Amazon US to a big warehouse in California, then to New York and then finally to the heart of Europe, where is a small (but nice) country called Slovakia.

Since I wanted to have it pretty fast, I paid UPSP almost 50 bucks for shipping. OK, that’s my problem, you can say — and I’m actually not complaining. I’m so happy about this fact. I have a game that was packed in a box with English manual and writings. And most importantly, the game is in American English, too. Yay!

But, no, EA Games don’t like me at all. They just have to give me a little bit of Czech languge, because yes, I ordered the game just to avoid having a game in Czech language. (Long story short — Slovakia is a neighbor of Czech Republic and the languages are very similar, so I understand Czech language fluently).

Why? The translation of the game is terrible. And then, why would I want to play the game in Czech language when I always played in in English? In fact, this game pretty much learnt me the basics of English. But again, the translation is terrible. They translate the names. They translate everything. Don Lothario was named as Don Juan. I know the translation was pretty accurate, but I just don’t like it. At all. The rest (I thankfully don’t remember) was much worse.

And now this. Today, I opened The Sims 3 Launcher and what do you think I see? Exactly! The news, Exchange and all feeds synced from the official site are in Czech language. Oh, great. Just what I needed, thank you EA Games.

I suppose it has to do something with my IP adress. It seems like they realized the place where I connect from and they just automatically sync the news in the launcher. Honestly, it’s not that bad (although the translation is — even in this case — very bad), but it really sucks when you think you avoid things like this and then you just find out that you don’t.

Just in case you wonder, if I translated the writings back to Enligsh, they would say something like this:

• 0 news message (translation) — 0 new messages (original)
• you have new added — new uploads
• go to store Store — visit The Sims 3 Store

No, this is really not fair at all.

Another great news is that now I have 70 subscribers. I really thought that there would be many people unsubscribing after The Sims 3 was released (and a few unsubscribed, that’s true), but I see that there are still people interested in playing the game. Thank’s for your support!

In fact, I haven’t played it for the last couple of days, because I’ve been feeling a little dizzy and had headaches. I suppose the hot weather is not doing me very good and I had trouble sleeping, too, because there’s a house being built in front of ours, which means there’s a lot of noise and I can’t sleep too long. Anyway, earplugs are my best friends right now.

You might know that The Sims Resource has been working on their new program called Workshop. It’s an open-source program that’s created in rather professional way, free to everyone, with its own EULA (so you can make your own creations free or pay, whatever you choose).

Now you can only create patterns for The Sims 3 with it, but the thing we’re all waiting for are the objects. If you already checked the blog about Workshop, then you also know that they’ve already started testing real 3D objects with it. They shouldn’t be based on any object from the game, so all objects should always be base-game compatible. That’s good news, isn’t it? (This also explains the part about free/pay files, doesn’t it?)

But here’s the better news that has been told to me: the tool should be updated for making objects this month. I’ve been told “July” to be more accurate. That’s all I know. It’s not much, I know, and honestly, I can’t promise it’s true, so please, when something screws up, don’t leave any hate-emails in my mailbox, ok?

On the other note, I haven’t made too big progress with my The Sims 3 review yet. But don’t worry, I’m getting into it. I just got kind of crazy about game called Indigo Prophecy last two days (I think I’ve mentioned it before). It turned out to be more than just a thrilling game, it went into the past, into the future… wow, I’m astonished.

Yes, I finished it today. That’s why I made the updates a little later than usual… But it was a whole heap of fun and I highly recommend it to everyone — the story was just perfect. (And it was snowing there all the time, which was perfect, too, because it’s way too hot here right now.)

As you see, I’m pretty behind in everything right now: I still haven’t written anything about How to Make a Popular Sim-Site yet. Not because I didn’t want to, but Omer was really right when he said I haven’t seemed to be in a good mood lately (did it really show that much?). One of the reasons (definitely not the only one) was that I still didn’t get my new computer and so I actually stared at the box of my new game for a couple of days (until a few hours ago, actually). I didn’t want to say anything about it, because I was a little sad about it and I don’t like to bother other people with my personal trouble here at Spring4Sims, but sometimes things just don’t work out as you want them to.

The good news is that now I have my new computer (yay!) and have installed The Sims 3 a couple of hours ago. I’m so excited! But I won’t reveal too much – I’ll just leave that the review I promised to you. Finally, I feel like home. Before I had and old notebook which my boyfriend lent me and although it was fine, it just doesn’t feel right when you don’t have all your data with you. I think I’ll have a lot of work with transfering all my files from two computers to one now, but at least this PC should be more stable than the one I had before.

I think you probably know now that I’m going to play the game and finally have some fun. It’s strange, but sometimes it feels like I just can’t have fun when I don’t have Sims on my computer. I read books, I write a lot, play guitar… but nothing feels so relaxing. (I’m not saying that playing is the only thing that really makes me happy, but when you just feel like playing, nothing can replace the game.)

Also, one last thing – I really wanted to publish a new interview which I made with Petchy, but I think it’ll just have to wait untill tomorrow. I’m sorry, Petchy! But I promise it will be here in time.

BTW the poster was not included in my box. Also, the stickers kind of suck, because I’ve seen all kinds of stickers around the Internet and they were much prettier. The Plumbob USB is really beautiful, though.

But one thing I totally don’t understand is that why the icon in my The Sims 3 profile is the “basic” version instead of “collector’s edition” verison. I’m so disappointed! I know, it’s such a stupid thing but this can only happen to me.

It was actually my brother who told me and he was even nice enough to take some pictures for me, but imagine that I could be there. Maybe I could win the cool toaster, some posters or even cute Plumbob Christmas lights. Too bad I didn’t know, too bad.

I also blame my brother for not taking those green Plumbob-tables with him. I’m sure he could pack them in the car. Or maybe just grab me that eye-catcher with that cute thief-girl (picture beneath). I have no idea where I would place it, but you get the point, right?

It’s actually a lovely surprise that EA Games made such an event in my country. I mean, it’s not that there are no real fans, but still – Slovakia is small and we don’t even have official representation here. The nearest one is the Czech Republic – and so is the game in Czech languge sold here.

In case you wonder why I pre-ordered my Game from America instead of buying it here on July 4th, the reason is the language. I may understand Czech language as good as my native language, but I hate playing the game in other languages than English. And since I’ve always played Sims in English, I’m not planning to change that. I guess old habits die hard…

So, it seems to be ok that I’ve reached the limit and had to pay for new hosting. But it wasn’t as bad as I thought – $23 was amount I’m able to pay basically anytime (I thought it would cost much more). The good news is that now the limit is 1 terabite and if it won’t be enough, the next level is unlimited hosting which costs only $7 to upgrade. I would never think that storing pictures was so demanding, lol!

Another good news is – and I have no idea how that happened – that Spring4Sims had 4000+ visits in the last three days. Now that’s quite a lot. Especially when I checked my PageRank and found out that my site has had PageRank 3 and now has PageRank 2. I think it’s due some sites that has been closed. Well, I hope I’ll get it back in the next three months. If you still don’t have my banner at your site, you can find it in the left sidebar if you scroll down a little.

When I’ll play the game for a while, expect a nice review from me.
