Yes, it’s that time of year when I’m asking for your help. In fact, I haven’t asked for it in the past one and half year. I thought I would take the bills in my hands and just not bother anyone. Unfortunately, things are no longer the same and I need to pay the bills for Spring4Sims’ hosting and domain.

As much as I don’t like it, I’ve decided to start a donation drive for year 2012. The bed news is I need to pay $121.00 for hosting and domain. The good news is that a one year payment is cheaper than monthly fees ($9.59 / month + $11.99 domain). Asking for money has never been my thing and I hope my readers know that I would not compromise the donations for my personal expenses. (I have no proof, just a solid conscience.)

Yesterday I had so much free time (yes, that was sarcasm) that I’ve decided it was the right time to make the categories on the blog a little more organized. Yes, I hate when things are messy and the categories an Spring4Sims were far behind this state, so some has been merged, some renamed and some were deleted or added.

I’m sure you’ll like the new categories Pet Essentials, Cars & Transportation and Study Rooms & Hobbies. All these were previously all in one category and I think it didn’t make much sense. I also created a category Bugs & Solutions, just to make it easier to find fixes for our messed games. There are a few more, but I don’t think it’s necessary to name them all.

I still wish the left column with categories was organized in tree instead of alphabetically. It would make much more sense, but I can’t do much about right now… Also, in case you find any typo in the names of the categories, please, let me know.

Otherwise, I’m quite busy. I’m working hard on my novel almost every day and write on my other blogs. Recently there’s so much new custom content for The Sims that I almost can’t keep up with it. My selections are really aiming at the best stuff right now, so I hope you all enjoy. Also, I’m sorry about those bad tags whether it’s for The Sims 2 or The Sims 3. I’m doing the updates usually at night when I’m pretty tired and that just happens sometimes…

My game is not working again. I’m sure you remember that it was lagging really bad. Well, when I solved that, it has started to crash. It happens about every 30 minutes, which is not that bad, but I also have trouble with saving. I almost always get Error 12 and the game can’t be saved (even as a new world). Honestly, I don’t know what to do. Reinstall? Again? It’s depressing. I was so excited for Pets, but I only created one cat in the game and that’s all I’ve tried so far.

So right now I’m taking some rest from Simming. It might be for the best, though–I really need to finish revising my novel. Maybe when I have more time during the Holidays, I will reinstall.

I wish I could say I’ve been more “around” when the new computer era has started, but for that I’m too young. I can still clearly picture the first iMacs, though, so pretty and colorful, made in 1997. The day I saw them I knew there was something magical about them and that behind their pretty face, there was a good heart. I was definitely Apple-stuck for good.

I woke up this morning early to go to my doctor when my parter called me to make sure everything’s okay. Then he told me Steve Jobs has passed away earlier that day. His voice was so low and I was pretty sure something terrible has happened. And the truth is, this is pretty terrible. The world has lost a visionare, an inventor, a great successful leader that changed the way we use computers, mobile phones, tablets and MP3 players.

Perhaps I can’t say I’m the most excellent Apple fan out there. I’ve never owned a Mac, because I’ve never found that much money in my pocket, but I do have a small family of iPods, which I love. Four years ago I wrote about them passionately as an editor at a local Apple weblog. Sometimes I think I still miss this job, because to me, iPod has always meant something special (as stupid as it can seem to many, because it’s just a “thing”).

Rest in peace, Steve Jobs.

If you’re a regular visitor of Spring4Sims, I’m sure you know I’ve been doing donation drives for the past couple of years except this one. I’ve decided I should pay the hosting myself, because The Sims and this site is still my personal hobby which should be on my expenses. I’m not against donating and even if you still consider doing so, I’m very grateful, because this site still does take a lot of time to update and of course, the hosting is not free.

That being said, I’m not asking for donations now. Donating is still possible and appreciated, I just don’t want to create any pressure.

I usually tweet about what I’m doing and thinking, there’s not too much about The Sims to be honest. Only from time to time. Fashion and writing keeps me quite occupied these days… Anyways, feel free to stalk me and give me a shout once you do!

What I meant to say with this small blog post is that I’m truly thankful to you guys not giving up on Spring4Sims. I think the site is still coping quite well, I get about 3,000-3,500 hits a day and I truly do all my best to keep it up. I know, there are some off-days when I don’t post anything. Also, some stuff that I post is not minty-fresh. I can’t help it, but I have to pre-schedule posts for three or four days, because it really takes much less time for me to do updates that way. I also know that there are a few other “finds” blogs that post many more updates a day. I have to tell you that this has been making me feel somewhat guilty for a long time, but I’ve decided that five posts a day is the maximum for me to keep the quality of finds pretty high and not spend a lifetime doing it.

The publishing system I’m using (WordPress) is playing little games with me and it will sometimes miss schedules I create for every post. Also, I still try to post some The Sims 2 stuff, but I have to admit it’s getting quite distant. Another thing is that I don’t have too much time to check up on sites that don’t provide RSS feeds. That’s why I mostly post here stuff from other blogs. Sorry for that, but if you have a new update on your site (that has no RSS feeds), just leave a comment and I will most likely post it here in a few days.

My game has been a total mess lately and yesterday I had to reinstall it for the third time in the past month. For some reason, I think the custom content I had made something nasty to it again and I couldn’t play World Adventures… I wish I could finally play it and take more pictures and post them here, because it’s so much fun for me to do and I always get so many nice comments from you. I really hope I’ll figure things out and be able to do that more.

My budget has been on a major cut recently; I wanted to buy Late Night and Fast Lane Stuff so badly at the begining of this month but then some unexpected bills showed up and I had to pay them, leaving me with very few money for this month. There’s not even a chace I can get something more from the new Lanvin for H&M collection, which I’ve been wanting so bad (these dresses are so awesome! And the tuxedo! And the t-shirts! Oh no!). Well, it still could be worse but I really hope to get at least the games before Christmas. Guess what I’m planning to do this Holiday Season?

There is also very little time for me to find more time for finds these days. I’m really trying to get a hold of it, but if you see a day without finds, please, don’t be mad. I’ve also noticed that I make a lot of typos in the tags and sometimes I mark posts with label “The Sims 2″ instead of “The Sims 3″ and vice versa. If you find such a mistake, just post a comment and I’ll correct that. Thanks a bunch!

And lats but not least, the good news is that at least I have decided to start writing. Maybe some of you know that November is the month of NaNo WriMo and yes, I’ve decided to go and try to write a novel. There’s been so many ideas popping in my head but I never had enough courage to put them down. It’s quite hard but motivating. And since I can’t play The Sims 3 at all now (my computer is still broken), it gives me a lot of time to write. In case you’ve joined the contest, let me know in the comments, I’ll be happy to give you some encouragement if you need some, because I know how much ones need it in order to keep on writing. I’m one day behind the word count, but so far so good. Maybe I will finish my first novel by the end of the month, who knows (at least the raw version).

To sum up the last month without making it boring or getting into detials of my personal life, I was pretty much figuring out my life. I’m in my early 20′s and deciding what I’m going to do, where I’m going to live and all those other questions that pop up a few times in your lifetime. The good news is that for now, I’m pretty much decided. Decisions usually take you further in your life and I’m sure I’ve made good ones.

Meanwhile, I was neglecting this site. This won’t be happening anymore as I really want to get back to doing finds again and write more about new releases, my game etc. Spring4Sims still means a lot to me and so do my visitors. Without you and your support, this site would never exist. Thanks for those who cared and wrote me nice comments, I really appreciate your concerns. I’m sorry if I disappointed some of you, but you know, your life is sometimes really much more important than the virtual life of your Sims.

I haven’t really been playing The Sims 3 for the last couple of weeks, perhaps because I was all excited about the new games I’ve just got: Tropico 3 and Tropico 3 Absolute Power (an expansion pack). The game is really great and so much fun, if you like strategies, definitely go check it out. I really like the idea of being a dictator of a banana island, making good and bad or even selfish decisions for my small island. The game makes fun of USA and USSR in the Cold War and I have to say I enjoy it quite a lot since I come from a post-communistic country. Enough said, just make sure you take a look if you don’t know the game at all!

But don’t think I’ve been neglecting my game that much! I’ve been downloading new stuff, organizing my Mods folder and pretty much deleting stuff I had but wasn’t really happy with in the game. It’s quite time-consuming I have to say. Apart from that, I finally received the The Sims 3 Amitions Prima Game Guide and it’s so helpful! I’m slowly digging through it and figuring some stuff before playing as I’ve found out sometimes it works for me much better this way. I don’t have all the time I used to have to try everything at once, so this way I choose the things I want to try the first and then pay attention to other stuff.

Also, I’ve been thinking about doing a small challege for you all. Do you have your room decorated with any Sims-themed objects? Or do you have your collection of the games nicely displayed on your shelves to show them proudly off? I thought it might be fun to see each other’s room with some odds and ends from The Sims. I have recently put a big poster of Sunset Valley on my wall and there’s a Plumbob USB hanging right down from my lamp… and of course, the games are lying around my desk with the guides. So would you be interested in showing your pictures? I though I could post them here at Spring4Sims and turn them into a show case. I just need to know if anyone would be willing to participate.

Oh yes, I finally have Ambitions, the Commemorative Edition is really fancy so I’ll sure write about it soon. I only played the game for 15 minutes, gave a small makeover to one of the local stylists at Twinbrook and that was it. Apart from the fact that I know I can’t play the game right now I feel the game has added pretty lot of new stuff and it makes me feel lost. I really need the Prima Game Guide.

Lately I’ve noticed I have less and less time to sink deep into details before release of new Sims games. I really have to do something with it, it’s making me feel uncomfortable since I love the game so much… Maybe some better time management? GTD might work, or so I’ve heard (any recommendations?).

I also couldn’t thank you sooner because there’s been a slight problem with WordPress. I couldn’t edit some of the older posts, everything was working really wonky and the worst thing is that some finds/posts that I pre-scheduled were deleted. That’s why there’s been fewer downloads these day. Everything should be working fine now, though.

Another thing I wanted to let you all know about is that Spring4Sims is now 2 years old! Two years is quite a lot if you consider posting new things (almost) every day. It’s so great to have such large audience that now includes 150+ subscribers via RSS feeds and more than three thousand visitors every day or up to four thousand on weekends. Thanks to everyone who supports my site and visits it. It makes me very happy! *makes the Smustle dance*

Another thing is that I’m having problems to find more TS2 stuff. Are there any new TS2 finds I’m missing, something shiny and new? Let me know in the comments. I try to do the finds fifty-fifty, but sometime’s it’s just not possible. Sorry for those who are looking forwards to downloading something for TS2.

The bad news is that I have too much work right now. (It’s not like I want you to feel sorry for me, definitely not.) But the worst thing of all? When you know you can’t play The Sims just because it’s the Saturday morning, because you have to write a seminar paper. That’s definitely not a good thing for Saturday morning, right?

My question is: What do you do on Suturday mornings? Do you play The Sims? Or do you do something different?

I bought a jacket, I even found it on Amazon.de, it should be made of genuine leather, because the label on it says it’s a pig leather and there were a few other labels saying it’s a leather jacket (no faux leather or anything like that). And it also wasn’t exactly cheap so it would better be one, haha.

But then I came home and my mum and now also my brother have started telling me that it’s not a genuine leather. It really freaked me out, because I don’t want a faux leather jacket (and definitely not for that money). It doesn’t really smell like leather, that’s right. But all those labels are saying it is genuine leather, it’s also a good brand (ONLY) and even Amazon claims it’s a schweinsleder (pig leather).

No idea what mave leather is, though. So I’m slightly confused. (Especially when somebody keeps telling you that you bought a fauxleather jacket and you wanted real leather jacket, gosh). Any ideas? Thanks a lot!

A lot of people, including me, started playing the new game more than the “older” one, but there are also people who play both at the same time. And because I also used my own site as a source for downloads that I personally prefer, I’ve decided it would be okay to start making finds also for TS3 files.

In fact, I wanted to do that a long time ago. But I couldn’t really find a good way to categorize the new finds. Then I thought I might make a new site only for TS3 find. But honestly, I have enough managing one site, I don’t need another one to take care of and pay more money for hosting.

However, I finally figured out the categories with my boyfriend. Here’s the best part: we have a new super-shiny tag that will show you which files are for TS2 and which are for TS3. You can see both right under the title of article (I put both in this article just for ilustration, there’s nothing to download here). What do you think? Do you like it? Let me know. BTW if you’re subscribed to Spring4Sims feeds you will as well see a small description whether the downloads are for TS2 or TS3.

There are also some small changes in the layout, finally no Christmas theme… it’s been here for a year, so it’s been about the time to change it, haha. Some more might happen to come soon, I hope.

Spring4Sims was always meant to be a TS2 site. I planned to expand S4S and start a TS3 finds site, but unfortunatelly, I can’t find any spare time in my life to start the project.

I thought just clicking the links to TS3 downloads I find awesome isn’t nearly as hard as taking time to put all the links together and describe them. I won’t add pictures to TS3 finds because it would only confuse a lot of visitors. People can’t stop asking ‘is this fot TS2 or TS3?’. Frankly, I’m so tired of this question.

So, S4S stays a TS2 finds site. TS3 finds will be compiled to lists of finds when I feel like to doing them. If you don’t feel like taking your time to click the links and see the content, you don’t have to do so.

Also, the system which I publish articles/finds with doesn’t allow me to create two categories with the same name (e.g. I can’t have two categories for ‘Hair for Females’–one for The Sims 2 and one for The Sims 3). So yeah, you get the point.

2. … and a lot of the time, the links aren’t even to the right places.

I can link directly only to sites that allow that. For example, sites like CC4Sims.com have disabled direct linking, so I can’t link directly to categories with clothes or recolors.

3. Either that, or the site you send us to is in a completely different language!

I take no resposibility for what language are other sites with custom content. You can always use Google Translator if you really mind. But I never link to sites in which you can’t relatively easily find a Download link. I think it’s mostly easy to see what the CC is from the pictures.

4. Also, you aren’t showing NEARLY as much designer stuff, what happened to the Gucci bags, Ray-Ban sunglasses & Victoria’s secret clothing? I miss it terribly.

That’s because there is no more designer stuff. If creators made some, I would post it. I love fashion myself and as long as the downloads are high-quality, I’m posting them. But as long as there’s nothing new, I’m not posting anything. I think that’s pretty logical.

5. Also, when I’m browsing through clothes and other items, I can never tell if they are for Sims 2 or Sims 3. It’s very confusing.

Go back to point no. 1. See? That’s why I don’t post The Sims 3 finds with pictures. Everything with pictures is for The Sims 2. This should clear out most of the trouble, but as I can see, for some people, it still doesn’t.

6. I hope you can do something about these problems in the future, and hope that I’m not being a nuisance for ranting on about this. I just miss the spring4sims I used to know!

Honestly, I miss the ‘good old’ S4S, too. But since there are less new downloads, less creators, and less time in my personal life, I can’t seem to help this.

Or rather a very full working schedule, which makes me sleep 5-6 hours a day at max. This week was rather terrible at this point and I hope to get some proper sleep today. Also, I hope this not to happen again, not because it would make me feel guilty (we all need to get some rest), but because of that very strange feeling I was having all day today.

It’s really not good when you feel like you’re losing your mind, lol.

Well, I knew it wouldn’t last too long anyway, but it was much quicker than I expected. See? Bad things go away quickly. And you don’t even need to push things. Isn’t it funny how some things in the world work out?

Another thing I wanted to thank you for is that you pointed out that ProfiSims.huu.cz just compiles custom content from other sites (and offers them as their own). I’ve decided not to support this site in any way, because I truly believe in originality. I know, those who don’t support pay sites already know where to get subscription content from TSR, but I think that’s a little different case. Hope you know what I mean.

And the last thing I wanted to ask you is whether you know some The Sims 2 sites that you can’t find on my site too often. If you’re in doubt, check out the List of Top Free Sites. A lot of sites have gone inactive in the past few weeks and it’s getting much harder for me to find some really nice content. If you know any great The Sims 3 sites as well, then give me the links as well. They’re spreading very fast and I feel like I’m a little behind.
