I’m in love! I’m sure you’ve heard that Genie is coming back with Showtime, so this is a great early addition. EA Games hasn’t released any info about Genie, but they say they will soon. I hope they came up with something extra this time. What do you think? Are you happy with Genie’s return?

I don’t know about you but… somehow this trailer doesn’t seem so funny to me.

BUT some of the objects are really cute. I won’t buy the game right away this time, maybe in a few months, but I will still have to have it.

I really love the first fruit dress! I wish they played with the sparkles a little bit more, but it’s okay. The silver dress is a total disaster, though. I’m even thinking that MTV must have mistaken it for some other dress. If, however, it’s the original inspiration, EA could’ve done much better work. What do you think, do you like the outfits?

One Collector’s Edition for The Sims 3 Showtime is not enough so EA Games has teamed up with Katy Perry and made another exclusive edition that includes a Katy Perry poster (I hope she’s a Sim), new themed outfits and stage props.

I have to say I like Katy Perry as long as she’s smiling on the red carpet but keeps her mouth shut… (okay, I do have her latest album in iTunes but I only like a few songs and I only listen to them when I work out okay except Teenage Dreem which I really like).

The new edition is now available for pre-order via Amazon US($50.00), Amazon UK(£34.99) and Origin ($50.00).

So, which edition do you get? The regular collector’s or the Katy Perry’s collector’s edition? I also have a question. Does anyone know if these two editions are available only for pre-sale, or will they be available even after the release?

This cute mouse has been around for a while, yet I’ve had no time to write about it. If you haven’t seen it and you’re not sure what it is, it’s basically this: a basic computer mouse with a special diode that changes color according to your Sims’ mood. To change its color from green-yellow-red, you need to play the Sims 3. And that’s pretty much all, but it’s actually very cool. The only drag is that it doesn’t glow at all outside the game.

I think this mouse is a total must for every die-hard Sim-fan. No, I don’t have it yet, but hopefully I will get it this summer. I’m crossing my fingers it won’t go sold-out by the time my pockets get a little more full… It is now available at Amazon US, Game Shark or Bol.com.

The rumors are spreading again. The next expansion pack is to be called Showtime, but nothing is official yet. New video has been leaked, too, but it seems to be fake. Personally, I believe it’s fake, because I don’t think EA Games would use any real live performances like this… 

Showtime has already been mentioned at various retailers’ lists. Sims VIP mentions them here, here and here.

I have to say I’m excited for the next EP. I’ve never really had a good chance to play The Sims Superstar but I know how popular it was. Seems like this could be the next Superstar. What do you think?

The game keeps lagging or whatever it is. I just play the game as usual, but when I do something “unexpected”, like click on something or try a new interaction, it “freezes” for a while. If it were 10 seconds, I wouldn’t mind that much, but 2 minutes?

So, my playgame looks like this: I’m playing for 4 minutes, then 2 minutes of freezing, 5 minutes of playing, 1,5 minute of freezing, 3 minutes of playing, 2 minutes of freezing… Honestly, I’m not surprised something like this popped up. For once I’m not even angry. And I think I know what I’ll be doing this weekend. *shrugs*

Is anyone else experiencing this? Any possible solution(s)?

UPDATE: Thank you guys for your advice! You’re always so helpful when I need your help.

So, I first tried to play my game without any custom content, but the game kept freezing anyway. This issue was not content-related. Then I updated Sunset Valley with the world fix from Mod the Sims, but there was so difference, either. It is still helpful when you have Pets, though.

What helped me was the NRaas OverWatch hack, which many of you have mentioned. I played around with it and it has deleted almost 100 cars from the ‘hood. Ever since that everything runs really smooth. I’m saved from all that reinstalling. I think I’ll be playing the game this weekend (my copy of Pets is unfortunatelly still on the way).

So, besides the usual, anything special I should know before I patch the game? How does your game and custom content work with the new patch?

Here’s the proof of The Sims 3 Master Suite, right in EA’s EULA. Also, according to two Dutch sites, stuff pack 5 should be out January 26th 2012, and expansion pack 6 March 8th 2012. What are your guesses? I’m not sure what to expect from the stuff pack, but I think they should finally make real weather in The Sims 3. Hey, we want new Seasons, can you hear us, EA Games?

What does installing of The Sims 3 Pets and patch 1.26 do to my custom content?

Your custom content will not work, it will be broken. The reason is that EA Games have changed the format of the _RIG resource, which all files have (. Affected are mainly objects that require animations or are interactive, e.g. sofa, chair, fridge etc. Decorative objects, skintones, hairs and clothes should remain fully functional, but technically they’re also broken, because every file uses the _RIG resource.

What should I do first?

Before installing the new patch or The Sims 3 Pets, make a backup of your custom content and your Saved Games. If something bad happens, you have at least all backed up.

How do I fix my custom content?

Mod the Sims has made two awesome tutorials for updating your old custom content with S3PE or S3OP. Here is the full version for dummies, and here the short version for more technically skilled. If you’re looking for more related info or need to ask something yourself about the patch, you can do so in this MTS thread.

The Sims Resource has released a tool TSR Pets CC Bug Fixer. The link will lead you to full tutorial where you can also find the program itself.

Sims 3 Stuff n Things has made a new program that will allow you to automatically update and fix your custom content. It works only for .package files, including merged .package files. You will just need to drag a .package file onto the program and it will be converted.

Another program can be found at Simological. New format RIGs will update the _RIG resource and fix custom content.

Also don’t forget that content from The Sims 3 Store is affected as long as you have converted it to .package files. Read more on MATY.

Happy Halloween: Gory Goodies — free!

I think the Halloween set is really great. The specter, skeleton bear and cake are the best! The art-deco set is quite nice, too, but I love the boho clothes and hairs. And the Vegas set… I’m not sure, do you guys like it? I don’t think I’ll bother getting it. It could be a great addition for Late Night, though.

South African gaming retailer has put The Sims 3 Master Suite Stuff Pack in their release list.

And that’s all we know. So, any ideas about the theme? I don’t really understand what “Master Suite” stands for, but I googled the pictures, so there you have it.

Guys, I’m sure you’ve noticed the ice-truck in the last The Sims 3 Pets trailer, but can you see that cute pink bunny? It’s just too cute to be an ice-cream!

Two side notes: The novel I’ve written a few weeks ago (now I’m editing) is about a girl who, besides other things, eats ice-cream for breakfast every day. For some reason, it made me smile–I should create her in the game and give her a little treat, don’t you think?

Also, this reminds me I had ice-cream only twice this summer. I’ve been trying to eat healthy for the past few months, but I think it’s time to shake things up at least once. I can already see that tiramisu Carte d’Or in my hands!

Oh, and I found this game preview at Platinum Simmers. What else do we get? Good and bad unicorns, carrots as a new seed / vegetable (yay, cute!) and random name generator in Create a Pet (not available for CAS, why?). BTW will there be bunnies in the game, too? Because I would really love to have them included between those 12 new small animals like lizards… we’ll see.

So, we’ve just learn some new vocabulary: according to EA, advanture pack is a mix of stuff pack and an expansion pack. Let’s hope the price will also be something in between.

I think pirates will be very exciting for the community. I’m sure you all know what I mean, right?

The Sims Medieval: Pirates and Nobles provides players with more variety and new choices in every aspect of the game. A player’s heroic story begins when the Pirates of Aarbyville and the Nobles of Tredony arrive in the kingdom, followed quickly by sword fights, love affairs, grand adventures and mysteries. For those who enjoy the rush of heroic missions, new exhilarating quests expand upon the original adventures like finding the fountain of youth or protecting the kingdom from an evil sorcerer. The war between Tredony and Aarbyville creates a new ambition and opportunity for players to suit up their kingdoms. Players can choose to be anyone from a king or queen to a knight or blacksmith, and with that, prepare for voyage accordingly. Also, if you’re looking forward to pre-ordering it, I’ve asked whether it will be available at Game.co.uk. Here’s the reply I’ve got from their online support:

I’m a little worried I won’t be able to get the limited edition because it will be sold out instantly. Hopefully it’s just a bad feeling I have.

My copy of The Sims Medieval Exclusive Collector’s Edition has arrived yesterday and I’m feeling really lucky to have it. And that is for two reasons: first of all, I didn’t expect the game to be so cute and funny. Maybe because I haven’t read too much about it, I didn’t know what to expect, but after three hours of playing, the game seems to be a lot of fun. It’s a small distraction from the original Sims with some hints of RPG (but I’m sure you know this already). I’m pretty sure I’ll be playing it for the next couple of weeks quite intensively.

But second of all, I got it for the best price I could ever imagine! I’ve had the collector’s edition in my wishlist at Game.co.uk for a while. The price was a little expensive for me at the beginning and I really didn’t plan to pay £45 and £3 for shipping. But then the price dropped to £32 and then again to £25 I was like okay, I need to get it before it’s completely sold out–and again it dropped to astonishing £20! The price is now the same as for the limited or the regular version. (Actually, the regular version was a little steeper and it’s already sold out at Game.co.uk. Don’t ask me why.)

So of course, I grabbed my copy quickly and I now finally have it. In case you wanted to get a copy, too, I highly recommend the collector’s edition, since it comes with a poster, artworks booklet, a plumbob wax seal (very cute!), original soundtrack, some exclusive downloadable content and also a plumbob papercut. The box is very pretty, too: it looks like a big old book.
